1. COVID-19: Buhari Govt Sends Strong Warning To Nigerians

The chairman of the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19, Boss Mustapha, has warned Nigerians against the disregard of the eased lockdown guidelines.

Boss Mustapha, who is the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), made this known during the daily briefing of the Task Force on Wednesday.

2. FG Extends Flight Ban By Four Weeks Over COVID-19

The federal government of Nigeria has extended the ban imposed on local and international flights by four weeks over the outbreak of Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

Naija News the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Boss Mustapha, made this known at a briefing of the presidential task force on COVID-19 on Wednesday, May 6.

3. Yobe Lawmaker Tests Positive To Coronavirus

Lawan Nguru, a member of the Yobe State House of Assembly representing Nguru Central Constituency has confirmed he has tested positive for COVID-19.

The lawmaker in a statement on Wednesday in Damaturu the state capital noted that he has gone into isolation based on the advice of health experts.

4. Chartered Plane Conveying Nigerians From Dubai Lands In Nigeria

A Chartered flight conveying 265 Nigerian returnees from the UAE (Dubai) arrive Nigeria at the Murtala Mohammed International Airport, Lagos.

The aircraft which was scheduled to arrive earlier initially made an air return 60 minutes into the flight to Nigeria after a female passenger gave birth on board.

5. Coronavirus: Lagos Discharges 37 COVID-19 Patients

The Lagos State government has discharged 37 COVID-19 patients who were successfully managed and have tested negative to the coronavirus infection.

The development was confirmed on Wednesday by the Lagos State Ministry of Health on its Twitter page.

6. President Buhari Reacts As Emir Of Daura Is Rushed To The Clinic Over Coronavirus Complications

President Muhammadu Buhari has reacted to the news that the Emir of Daura (his hometown), Alhaji Umar Farouk Umar is critically ill.

The President in a statement on Wednesday through Mallam Garba Shehu, his senior special assistant on media and publicity, prayed for the quick recovery of the traditional ruler.

7. Coronavirus: Federal Govt Reveals Worst Hit Sector

The Minister of Aviation, Hadi Sirika, on Wednesday while speaking on sectors affected by the outbreak of Coronavirus noted that the worst-hit sector in Nigeria is the aviation sector.

Sirika during the Coronavirus media update on Wednesday stated that the aviation sector is the most hit, he further stated that airlines have lost nearly N17 billion monthly since their operations were grounded.

8. COVID-19: Fayose Tables Fresh Request Before Buhari

Former Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, has asked President Muhammadu Buhari to ease the suffering of Nigerians during the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

The chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) stated this in a post on his Twitter page on Wednesday.

9. COVID-19: Federal Government Receives $3.4bn Emergency Loan From IMF

The Nigerian government has finally gotten the three-point four billion dollars released by the world financial regulator and agency (IMF).

Naija News recalls that the emergency fund which was approved by the IMF Board on April 28, comes under the Rapid Financing Instrument (RFI). It is meant to assist Nigeria’s fight against COVID-19 and to resolve an urgent balance of payment needs.

10. Paulo Dybala Tests Negative To Coronavirus

Italian Serie A giants, Juventus have confirmed that their player and Argentine striker, Paulo Dybala has tested negative to the coronavirus infection.

The club announced the new test result for the player in a statement on its website on Wednesday, where it noted that the player is healed.
