1. Federal Government Opens Up On How Abacha’s Returned Loot Will Be Spent

The federal government has spoken on how it intends to spend the recently recovered funds looted by the late Nigerian head of state, General Sani Abacha.

However, while speaking on the returned loot, Garba Shehu, the senior special assistant to the president on media and publicity, says the newly repatriated $311 million has been allocated to specific infrastructural projects

2. Senate Asks Buhari Govt To Stop Introduction of 5G Network

The Nigeria Senate on Tuesday asked the President Muhammadu Buhari-led government to halt the introduction of the 5G Network pending the report of its investigation.

Naija News reports that the directive was given following a motion by Senator Uche Ekwunife (Anambra Central) titled: “The present status of 5th Generation (5G) Network in Nigeria”.

The management of the National Emergency Management Agency has confirmed that the North-East zonal coordinator, Saidu, is dead.

Abdulkadir Ibrahim, NEMA north-east principal information officer, on Tuesday revealed that the coordinator died at the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital.

The Kano State government led by Abdullahi Ganduje has discharged its first set of Coronavirus patients.

Naija News reports that no fewer than three COVID-19 patients have been discharged in Kano State, northern Nigeria, after testing negative twice to the virus.

6. NEMA’s N6bn Scam: Osinbajo Must Come Out Clean – PDP Says

Nigeria’s Vice President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo has been dragged by the country’s main opposition party, the People Democratic Party over alleged 5.8 billion National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) scandal in which he was allegedly fingered by an investigative committee of the House of Representatives.

The party made the allegation known via its official twitter handle where it asked the Vice President to come out clean and reveal what he knows about the alleged fraud.

7. Senate Introduces Infectious Disease Control Bill Amid COVID-19

The Nigerian Senate on Tuesday, May 5, introduced its own Infectious Disease Control Bill under a new name amid the Coronavirus (COVID-19).

The Bill titled: “National Health Emergency Bill” sponsored by the Chairman Senate Committee on Communicable Diseases and Primary Healthcare, Senator Chukwuka Utazi (Enugu North) scaled first reading on Tuesday.

Jonathan said this in his tribute to Yaradua who died exactly 10 years ago.

The Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Rt Hon. Mudashiru Obasa has dismissed reports that he was laundering money through contract scam.

10. Former Sokoto State Governor Dies

The Sokoto State Government have announced the death of Dr Garba Nadama, the second civilian governor of the State.

In a statement to newsmen on Tuesday, the Sokoto State govt disclosed that Nadama, aged 82 years, died after an illness of natural cause.
