Katsina State government on Wednesday, May 6 announced a compulsory lockdown in Malumfashi, a Local Government Area of Katsina State following a confirmed case of Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic in the council area.

The development was disclosed today by the Secretary to the State Government, Mustapha Inuwa.

According to Inuwa, the lockdown in Malumfashi will commence from 7 am on Thursday, 7th May until further notice.

He noted also that the government has placed restriction of movement in the LGA as security operatives would be deployed to arrest violators of the order.

Naija News understands that the Governor Aminu Masari government had issued the order after some residents in the area council reportedly tested positive for COVID-19.

“The lockdown was ordered in line with the decision by the state government and other stakeholders to shutdown any local government where positive cases were confirmed in the stat,” Inuwa revealed.

He added, “Governor Aminu Masari had directed the COVID-19 committee to identify pharmaceutical, grains, and essential commodities stores that would be allowed to offer skeletal services to the needy.”

Meanwhile, President Muhammadu Buhari has been accused by Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State of playing politics with the relocation of Almajiri to their various states in the North.
