Coronavirus: Ilorin Residents Violate Social Distancing, Face Masks Directives

The environs of Ilorin, Kwara State capital was in disorder after residents of the state violated social distancing and the mandatory use of face mask on Monday.

This is coming after the state government on Monday relaxed the lockdown order placed on the state.

Following the directives of the state government to relax the lockdown, commercial banks, markets and other places were filled up as people failed to follow the social distancing and face masks order which was put in place to curtail the spread of Coronavirus.

Further information gathered revealed that buyers at some markets, particularly at Zango, Ipata, Akerebiata, Yoruba road, and Oja-Oba, who wore the face masks did not observe the social distancing guidelines and only very few provided hand sanitizers for buyers who patronized them.

However, some shops, hospitals and petrol filling stations provided hand-washing facilities and sanitizers for customers and patients.

Customers were seen in their numbers struggling to gain entrance into the bank without adherence to social distancing safety protocol.

Security operatives in the state stopped cabs and Keke napep operators who exceeded the number of passengers they are allowed to carry by the guidelines of the state government.

The state government had earlier directed that all traders in the state not to attend to anyone without a face mask.
