Another Prominent Kano Indigene And Traditional Leader Dies

The death has been reported of Prof. Isa Hashim, a senior counsellor in the Kano Emirate Council until his passing away.

Naija News understands Hashim, who was the Jarman Kano, died on Sunday morning after a brief illness at the age of 86.

A family source, Ibrahim Aliyu, told newsmen that the health of the traditional title holder had deteriorated before he finally passed on.

He noted that some of his childhood friends had earlier died in quick succession.

Hashim was a Professor of Political Science, who taught for many years at the Bayero University Kano (BUK) before his retirement.

Meanwhile, it will be recalled the Emir of Rano, in Kano State, Alhaji Tafida Abubakar Ila II, passed away on Saturday.

As previously reported by Naija News, the emir died at a hospital in Kano at the age of 74.

As at the time of filing this report, it remains unconfirmed if any of the two deaths were COVID-19 related but a good number of mysterious deaths have been recorded in Kano since the outbreak of the coronavirus infection.

The state government said most of the deaths were not COVID-19 related but added that further updates will be provided after investigations are completed.
