Bashir Ahmad Reacts To May 4th Lockdown Relaxation

The Personal Assistant on New Media to President Muhammadu Buhari, Bashir Ahmad has assured Nigerians that the country will record a big victory against the current global pandemic.

The presidential aide made the statement in a recent tweet on his microblogging site account, noting that Nigeria will one day be free of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Recalled that President Buhari on Monday evening stated in his speech during the nationwide broadcast that lockdown in states mostly affected with the dreadful virus, the likes of, FCT, Lagos & Ogun States will begin to enjoy gradual relaxation starting from May 4.

Nigerians, however, took to the social media to make a joke of the 4th of May, making the announced date trend on Twitter with different kind of memes.

Reacting to the jokes made out of the announced date, Bashir said;

“These ‘4th of May’ jokes can make one forget the actual situation we are at the moment. Our resilience is second to none. Can’t imagine the day the authority will declare Nigeria free of the COVID–19 pandemic, the whole world can’t contain us. Nigeria will win this war big time.”

Meanwhile, it has been reported that Ghana has recorded no less than 271 new cases of COVID-19 in just a few days after its government relaxed the lockdown exercise in the country.

On Nigeria’s part, citizens have been advised to continue to adhere to measures already given by the government to avoid further spread of the killer virus while the battle against the the pandemic continues.
