COVID-19 Lockdown: 18 Sex Workers, Clients Arrested In Ondo

Ondo State government has revealed that it would carry out a medical test on sex workers recently arrested in the state for a violation of the Coronavirus lockdown order.

In a development confirmed to newsmen by the Special Taskforce on COVID-19 chairman, Doyin Odebowale, about eighteen sex workers popularly known as ‘Ashewo’ have been nabbed for disobedience to the stay at home order issued by the state government as part of its precautionary measure against the continuous spread of Coronavirus pandemic.

Naija News understands that the sex workers were arrested alongside their clients.

Given details of the arrest, Doyin revealed that the sex workers were arrested at a brothel in Shasha, a popular area in Akure, the capital city of the state.

She further disclosed that the arrested individuals have been quarantined and their blood samples were taken so they can be tested for the novel virus.

“They have been together and they are in a high rise situation, so we have to invite our health expert through the state epidemiologist to ascertain their health status,” Doyin noted.
