Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq led administration of Kwara State Government on Sunday, April 26 received from the Federal Government some Coronavirus palliative amid Ramadan fasting.

The development was confirmed by the spokesperson to the governor, Rafiu Ajakaye, in a statement to newsmen in Ilorin on Sunday that the state has received 1,800 bags of rice and 700 gallons of 25litre vegetable oil as palliatives from the Federal Government.

According to Ajakaye, the package is meant to be distributed to the most vulnerable persons in the society as support during this COVID-19 pandemic.

He, however, applauds the Federal Government and the Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development for the kind gesture towards the state at this time.

He said, “We are very grateful to the Federal Government for reaching out to the most vulnerable in our State at this time.

“Specifically, we thank the Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development for the gesture.

“We assure Mr President that the palliatives will be delivered to the intended beneficiaries as we have been doing.”

He added, “All of us should use this period of Ramadan to seek God’s mercy. The situation at hand shows just how vulnerable we are and we must pray to God to save us even as we play our individual roles as explained by various health authorities.”

On his part, while handing over the palliative to the Kwara State government, Dr. Abubakar Suleiman who lead the distribution team from Abuja said, “the palliatives were being shared to States on the order of Mr. President for vulnerable groups in the time of the global pandemic.”
