1. Federal Govt Condemns Racial Discrimination Against Nigerians In China

The President Muhammadu Buhari-led government on Thursday expressed, disappointment over racial discrimination against Nigerians and other Africans in China.

Recall that China had thrown out some Nigerians from their hotel and forcefully quarantined them for two weeks ago.

2. COVID-19: Osinbajo Meets SGF Mustapha, Eight Governors

Vice President Yemi Osinbajo has met with the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Boss Mustapha, and eight governors on how to tackle the COVID-19 pandemic.

In a post on Twitter on Thursday, Osinbajo’s spokesperson, Laolu Akande, disclosed that the meeting was centred on harmonising coronavirus response efforts by the federal and state governments.

3. COVID-19: Gov. Abdulrazaq Extends Lockdown As Kwara Gets New Cases

Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq of Kwara State has extended the lockdown imposed on the state by another 14 days, to further prevent the spread of COVID-19.

Naija News understands that the governor made the announcement on Thursday as the state recorded two new cases of COVID-19.

4. Coronavirus: NCDC Reopens Kano Testing Centre

The kano state COVID-19 testing centre has resumed operations, this was revealed by the Federal Government on Thursday.

Minister of Health, Ehanire Osagie made this known during the daily briefing of the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19 and gave a reason why the centre was shut down temporarily.

5. Lebanese Man That Wanted To Sell Nigerian Lady On Facebook Finally Arrested

Wael Jerro, the Lebanese who put a Nigerian lady up for sale on Facebook has been arrested.

This development was confirmed on Thursday by the Chairman, Nigerians in Diaspora Commission, Abike Dabiri-Erewa in a statement on her Twitter handle.

6. 40 Health Workers Contract Coronavirus In Nigeria

The Minister of Health, Osagie Ehanire says over 40 health workers have contracted coronavirus in Nigeria.

Naija News reports that the Health Minister who disclosed this while speaking during a media briefing on Thursday, April 23, 2020, appealed to health workers to take all necessary precautions in dealing with coronavirus patients for their own safety.

7. Sultan Of Sokoto Declares Friday 1st Of Ramadan

The Sultan of Sokoto and Chairman Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs, Alhaji Abubakar Saad III, has announced the sighting of Ramadan crescent on Thursday.

Alhaji Abubakar noted that Friday will be the 1st day of Ramadan.

8. COVID-19: President Buhari Gets ‘Major Appointment’ From ECOWAS

ECOWAS leaders have appointed President Muhammadu Buhari to lead the battle against the spread of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic in the sub-region.

Naija News reports that the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina, confirmed this at the end of the extraordinary summit of the Heads of State and Government of the Economic Community of West Africa States (ECOWAS) Thursday.

9. Military Bombs Boko Haram Compound, Terrorists Leaders In Sambisa Forest

Military authorities have confirmed that the Air Task Force of Operation Lafiya Dole (OPLD), has destroyed compounds housing Boko Haram Terrorists leaders at Bulawa, on the fringes of the Sambisa Forest in Borno State.

The Coordinator, Defence Media Operations, Maj.-Gen. John Enenche, disclosed this in a statement on Thursday in Abuja.

10. Lagos Records Two New Coronavirus Deaths

The Lagos State Government led by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has announced two new Coronavirus (COVID-19) related deaths.
