1. COVID-19 Palliative: We Will Find Families We Mistakenly Paid N20,000 Twice – FG Fumes

As the Nigerian Government commences the distribution of the palliative support for Nigerians, it has noted that two members of a family cannot be paid N20,000 from the Conditional Cash Transfer Scheme.

This was made known by Sadiya Farouq, Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management, while addressing claims of double payment in some states.

2. Coronavirus: Lagos Discharges Nine Recovered Patients, Transfers 5 Others To Ogun State

The Lagos State government has discharged nine more coronavirus patients who have fully recovered and tested negative to the infection.

This was confirmed on Wednesday by the Lagos Commissioner for Health, Professor Akin Abayomi.

3. Gov. Fintiri Confirms Adamawa’s Coronavirus Index Case

Adamawa State has recorded its first case of Coronavirus.

5. Coronavirus: Chinese Doctors Complete 14-Day Isolation, To Begin Work In Nigeria

The Chinese medical professionals who arrived Nigeria earlier to help the country deal with the COVID-19 outbreak have completed their 14-day isolation period.

Recall that they had flown in with medical equipment worth about $1.5million, through the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, on April 8, 2020.

6. Ebonyi: IPOB Warns Umahi Against Harassing Journalists

The Ebonyi State Governor, Dave Umahi, has been warned by the Indigenous People of Biafra against intimidating journalists in the state.

Governor Umahi on Wednesday had banned two journalists, Messrs Chijioke Agwu and Peter Okutu of The Sun and Vanguard Newspapers respectively from the government house and other government facilities.

7. COVID-19 Is Not A Laboratory Virus- World Health Organisation Reveals

The main regulatory body for health issues in the world has revealed fresh evidence that suggests COVID-19 originated in bats in China late last year.

The global health body also said the virus was not manipulated or constructed in a laboratory, contrary to speculations in some quarters.

8. IPPIS: ASUU Refuse To Call Off Strike Despite Payment Of Withheld Salaries

The Academic Staff Union of Universities has refused to call off its ongoing strike despite the order of the Nigerian President, that February and March 2020 withheld salaries of lecturers in federal universities should be paid.

Naija News recalls that the federal government had previously withheld the lecturers’ salaries over their refusal to register in the Integrated Payroll and Personnel Information System.

9. Abubakar Shekau Should Be Killed, Not Imprisoned – Fani-Kayode

The Minister of Aviation under the Goodluck Jonathan administration, Femi Fani-Kayode, has called on the Federal Government of Nigeria not to allow the leader of the Boko Haram sect, Abubakar Shekau, to surrender.

The former minister in his post on Twitter noted that the Boko Haram leader should be killed instead of allowing him to surrender.

10. WHO Confirms Four New Cases Of Ebola In Congo

The Africa Regional Office of the World Health Organisation has confirmed four new cases of Ebola in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

The development was confirmed by the regional office on their official twitter account @WHOAFRO on Wednesday.
