Wael Jerro, the Lebanese who put a Nigerian lady up for sale on Facebook has been arrested.

This development was confirmed on Thursday by the Chairman, Nigerians in Diaspora Commission, Abike Dabiri-Erewa in a statement on her Twitter handle.

She added that the suspect was arrested by the Lebanese government and would be facing prosecution in his country.

“The Lebanese Government just announced the arrest of Mr. Wael Jerro for onward prosecution against criminal sales of a human, a young Nigerian girl,” she wrote.

Naija News recalls Jerro had put the Nigerian woman up for sale at $1,000, prompting action from the Nigerian government.

The incident also generated outrage on social media, as many Nigerians called for the arrest of the suspect and rescue of the lady.

On Wednesday, Dabiri-Erewa disclosed the federal government was following up on the matter.
