Luck ran out on two lovers who attempted to be together during the coronavirus lockdown while they were trying to move from one region to the other.

The South African man and his girlfriend were arrested by the police after they were stopped at a road block while trying to move into another region.

According to a Twitter post by Faith Mazibuko who is the MEC for Community Safety in Gauteng, the lady had agreed to be smuggled in the booth as a way to beat the surveillance and check mounted by security operatives.

Their plan was however thwarted when they were discovered during a stop and search at a roadblock in the Gauteng province.

The driver who did not have a permit, was headed to the Eastern Mpumalanga province. Authorities say the woman was also arrested for consenting to be smuggled

Naija News understands the government of South Africa imposed a nationwide lockdown on March 24th for three weeks but the lockdown has been extended until the end of April as part of efforts to contain the spread of coronavirus in the country.
