COVID-19: Nigerian Governors Hail Dangote And Others Over Donation Of Relief Fund

Nigerian Governors have praised the richest black man in the world, Aliko Dangote and members of the Coalition against COVID-19 (CACOVID) for their contributions to the country’s efforts to contain the spread of the coronavirus pandemic.

Naija News understands that the governors of the 36 states gave the appreciation to the members of the Coalition against COVID-19 (CACOVID) via a communiqué, signed by NGF’s Chairman, Governor Kayode Fayemi of Ekiti State after the end of the NGF’s COVID-19 teleconference.

Fayemi Speaking further on behalf of the governors called for greater collaboration between these national agencies and states, who are the primary stakeholders of the COVID-19 response.

The governors also commended the Presidential Task Force (PTF) on COVID-19 and the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) for improving on the country’s testing and contact tracing capacity during the two-week period of lockdown in many parts of the country.

Below is part of the communique signed by Governor Kayode Fayemi of Ekiti State after the end of the NGF’s COVID-19 teleconference.

It reads: ”

“Following a briefing from the CACOVID led by Messrs. Aliko Dangote and Herbert Nwigwe and the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Mr. Godwin Emefiele, on the delivery of health care equipment and distribution of palliatives to the most vulnerable persons across states, the governors praised the group for its commitment and collaboration on the COVID-19 response.

“Finally, the governors recognised the importance of ensuring the continuous existence of businesses during the lockdown and will take necessary measures to support same.”
