Coronavirus: Arsenal Players Say No To Pay Cut
Arsenal players have rejected the latest proposal of a wage cut presented by the club occasioned by the suspension of the league due to the coronavirus pandemic.
The players have been told by the club that the financial situation at the club will be grave should the season be cancelled or resumed behind closed doors.
However, the parties have so far been unable to agree on the way forward to mitigate the financial crisis.
Naija News understands several options have been discussed, but so far none have been met with enough approval to be put into action.
The last proposal from the club had suggested a 12.5 per cent wage cut – which would last for a year. There were incentives included in the offer, including one which stated that the players would be paid in full should they secure Champions League football next season.
However, when the vote on the offer was held among the squad on Monday, it was rejected.
Negotiations with the players will now continue aimed at finding a workable and acceptable solution for all parties.
