Fuel Subsidy Palliative: Gov Abiodun Reveals Key Decisions Taken At NEC Meeting

There is confusion in Ogun State as the state Governor, Dapo Abiodun and the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, revealed a different number of Coronavirus cases in the state.11

The state Governor had noted that six new cases were recorded in the state while the NCDC insisted that Ogun has only four cases.

Recall that Gov. Abiodun during a press briefing on Monday announced that Ogun State has identified two new cases of Coronavirus, saying the state now has six cases.

He noted that the new cases did not have travel history and did not have contacts with any positive case. He wondered how they contracted the virus.

Gov. Abiodun stated that one of the two cases is from Yewa South Local Government, while the other is from Mowe, in Obafemi Owode Local Government Area of the state

He further stated that they have been moved to one of the isolation centres in the state.

However, the NCDC, on Wednesday, announced new cases of Coronavirus across the nation, but Ogun state was excluded from the figures released.

The Governor who spoke through his Chief Press Secretary, Kunle Somorin, said he would not know why NCDC has not updated its data to reflect the present reality in Ogun State.

Somorin said “the Governor has told us what is on the ground in Ogun State. I align myself with the Governor’s position.”

“The Governor has given you a number. Find out from NCDC why it has not updated its data. It is not for us to know. We don’t know.”
