The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has warned members of the public against falling prey of several false information going around on the 2020 admission cut-off marks.

The board warned Nigerians and candidates that sat for the 2020 UTME to disregard the cut-off marks currently in circulation across various social media platforms.

It, however, disclosed that no official cut-off marks has been fixed, agreed or announced for this year’s admission exercise.

This was disclosed by JAMB’s Head of Media and Information, Dr Fabian Benjamin, in a statement on Sunday where he debunked rumours that the board had adopted a cut-off mark for this year’s admission.

He added that the 2020 admission cut-off marks will be decided at a stakeholders’ policy meeting that would be chaired by the Minister of Education, Mallam Adamu Adamu.

The meeting has been fixed for June 15th and 16th 2020, Dr. Benjamin disclosed.

“Kindly disregard any cut off marks paraded by fraudsters. It is fake news.

“Cut off marks are decided at a policy meeting chaired by the Hon Minister of Education with all heads of tertiary institutions, CEOs of regulatory agencies in education and all other critical stakeholders in attendance.

“This meeting has been fixed for June 15th and 16th 2020 if all things being equal.

“Until this meeting is held nobody can talk about cut off marks. Nigerians are advised to disregard any such marks being paraded,” he said.

Naija News recalls about 1.9 million candidates sat for the 2020 UTME conducted by JAMB and those that passed and possess other criteria will be seeking admission to various tertiary institutions in Nigeria.
