1. FG Breaks Silence On 26 Americans Who ‘Arrived Nigeria Without Screening’

The Federal Government of Nigeria has denied reports in some sections of the media that 26 Americans arrived the Murtala Muhammed Inter­national Airport (MMIA), Lagos, on Monday without screening for Coronavirus.

This was debunked by the Minister of Information, Alhaji Lai Mohammed who warned against dangers of fake news during the period of the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.

2. Coronavirus: Test Results of IGP Adamu, Other Top Officers Released

The Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Adamu, and other top officers of the Force had tested negative for the deadly coronavirus (COVID-19).

The result was made known on Tuesday afternoon in a statement by the Nigeria Police Force on Twitter.

3. Nigerian Army Approves New Posting, Appointments Of Officers In Massive Redeployments

The Nigerian Army has released the postings and appointments of some affected senior officers as confirmed in a statement on Tuesday, 31st March which was signed by Col. Sagir Musa, Acting Director Army Public Relations.

The posting which was approved by the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Lt Gen TY Buratai is a routine/normal exercise intended to reinvigorate the system for greater professional effectiveness and efficiency.

4. Rep Members Donate 2 Months’ Salary To Fight Coronavirus In Nigeria

The 360 members of the House of Representatives have resolved to donate their two months’ salary to the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic in Nigeria, the Speaker, Rep. Femi Gbajabiamila has announced.

The two-month salary donation, the Speaker said, will be independent of the contributions by individual lawmakers to alleviate the hardship that their constituents face at this time of national emergency.

5. COVID19: Buhari Led Government Must Justify N1.1trn Emergency Fund- ASUU

The National President of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), Prof. Biodun Ogunyemi, has advised Nigerians on the novel COVID-19 pandemic.

Prof. Ogunyemi during the campaign to curb the spread of the coronavirus by providing some intervention materials like sanitisers, handbills and posters said curbing the spread of the disease called for the patriotism of all Nigerians.

The presidency has shut down rumours that Mallam Abba Kyari has been sacked as the Chief of Staff to the President of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari.

In its response to the rumours making rounds on some social media platforms, the presidency urged the public to disregard the news on Kyari’s sack.

7. Nigeria Records Four New Cases Of Coronavirus Infection

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has confirmed Nigeria has recorded four new cases of the coronavirus (COVID-19) infection.

According to the NCDC in a tweet on Tuesday, the four new cases were reported in Osun and Ogun states.

8. Buhari Govt Meets Service Chiefs Over Coronavirus Lock Down

The Chairman of the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19 and Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Boss Mustapha, has disclosed that the committee met with security chiefs to review protocols for implementing the 14-day lockdown in Lagos, Ogun and the FCT.

SGF Mustapha made this known while speaking during a live Presidential Task Force briefing on COVID-19 in Abuja on Tuesday.

9. Coronavirus: NCDC Advises Against Intake Of Garlic, Lemon

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, NCDC, has called on Nigerians to be careful of how they take lemon, garlic and palm oil as preventive measures for Coronavirus.

The body in a post on its Twitter account warned Nigerians against drinking or spraying Dettol on their body.

10. COVID-19: Barcelona Players Agree To 70% Wage Cut – Messi

Barcelona captain, Lionel Messi has announced the decision by the Spanish club’s players to take a 70% wage reduction during the period of the COVID-19.

According to the talismanic player, the wage cut will enable the club capable of paying non-sporting staff their full wages.
