1. Nigeria Records Second Coronavirus Death

The Nigerian Government has confirmed the second death from COVID-19 in the country. The Minister of Health, Dr Osagie Ehanire, announced this in a press briefing at Abuja on Monday.

The First case COVID-19 death was confirmed in Nigeria on 23rd March 2020, was a 67-year-old male who returned home following medical treatment in the United Kingdom.

2. Nigeria Army Kills Top Boko Haram Commander, Many Others In Borno

One of the top commanders of the Boko Haram terrorist group, Abu Usamah, has been killed by troops of the Nigerian Army in Gorgi, Damboa Local Government Area of Borno State.

The Acting Director Defence Media Operations, Brigadier General Benard Onyeuko, confirmed that Usamah was among the terrorists killed by troops of the Operation Lafiya Dole during a subsidiary Operation known as Ayiso Tamonuma.

3. Five Coronavirus Patients Discharged In Lagos

Five coronavirus patients were discharged from the Infectious Disease Centre, Yaba Mainland Hospital on Monday

Some further exemptions have been granted by President Muhammadu Buhari to the lockdown order issued on Sunday night as it affects Abuja, Lagos and Ogun States.

A joint statement on Monday by the Minister of Finance, Zainab Ahmed and Central Bank governor, Godwin Emefiele, said the President has approved the exemption of financial services operators from the lockdown.

6. Coronavirus: NAFDAC Orders Emergency Production Of Chloroquine

Prof. Mojisola Adeyeye, the Director-General of the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control has ordered the production of Chloroquine for Possible Clinical Trial Treatment of Coronavirus.

Adeyeye gave these directives in a statement released on Monday, she added that it was important to produce more stock just in case more people become exposed to the virus since the drug has shown the possibility of treating the virus.

7. One Killed, 15 Injured By Custom’s Stray Bullet While Pursuing Rice Smugglers

A student has been reportedly killed by a stray bullet fired by men of the Nigeria Customs Service, Ogun State Command 1 while pursuing rice smugglers.

According to reports, the student identified as Sekinat Agbelade, was hit by the bullet at Agosasa in the Ipokia Local Government Area of the state on Saturday.

8. Senators To Donate Half Salaries To Fight Coronavirus In Nigeria

Nigerian Senators representing the citizens in the upper chamber of the National Assembly have agreed to donate half of their March salaries to the fight against the spread of coronavirus in the country.
