The former presidential candidate of the Young Progressive Party (YPP) in 2019,Kingsley Moghalu has appealed to Nigerian lawmakers to use their philanthropic instincts this season as the scourge of COVID-19 spreads across the country.
Naija News Understands that he made the demand in a statement he issued on Sunday on the efforts by the government and the private sector to check the spread of the virus. Speaking further that half of their salaries to the fight against the spread of coronavirus in Nigeria. He also called for contributions from state governments.
The former Deputy Governor of Central Bank of Nigeria, also said that the Federal Government would require about N2 trillion to provide financial assistance to poor families during COVID-19 shutdown.
He however identified poverty as the biggest threat to the effort to curtail the spread of the pandemic in Nigeria.
