The Israeli government had evacuated its citizens from Nigeria. Naija News understands that 274 Israelis were evacuated from Nigeria as a result of the increasing coronavirus outbreak in the country.

The evacuation process was supervised by the Deputy Chief of Mission at the Israeli Embassy in Abuja, Mr Yotam Kreiman.

Speaking to newsmen at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja, Kreiman stated that the evacuation became necessary due to the global increase in cases of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Israeli nationals were evacuated on a direct flight to Israel by a private Nigerian airline, making it the first time there will be a direct flight to the country from Nigeria. Passengers onboard the aircraft include embassy staff and others working for private companies in Abuja.

The Chairman of Air Peace, Mr Allen Onyema, also confirmed the news in a statement on Sunday in Lagos.

He stated that the 65 passengers from Lagos and proceeded to Abuja to transport another 209, was operated by Air Peace Boeing 777-300 with registration number 5N-BWI.
