President Muhammadu Buhari on Sunday ordered the payment of ₦5,000 stipend to vulnerable citizens across the country for two months with immediate effect.

He made the order during a nationwide broadcast on Sunday evening o. He said the two-month stipends was to help the vulnerable people in buying basic needs during the self-isolation period.

“For the most vulnerable in our society, I have directed that the conditional cash transfers for the next two months be paid immediately.”

He also said the internally displaced persons (IDP) camps will be provided with two months of food rations.

“Our Internally displaced persons will also receive two months of food rations in the coming weeks.”

President Buhari further called on Nigerians to take responsibility for supporting the vulnerable in their communities.

“We also call on all Nigerians to take personal responsibility to support those who are vulnerable within their communities, helping them with whatever they may need.”

Naija News understands that as at 09:30 pm 29th March there are 111 confirmed cases of #COVID19 reported in Nigeria with 1 death.
