The presidency late on Thursday evening reacted to rumours that the President of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari is sick and has been taken through the back door out of the country for medical attention.

In denying the rumours about the President’s health condition and location, a picture was released on social media platforms showing President Buhari working in his office.

Before the picture was released, Nigerians had started trending #WhereIsBuhari on Twitter, demanding to see the president or for him to address the nation.

There had been insinuations in certain quarters that President Buhari might be at risk of the coronavirus infection after his Chief of Staff, Abba Kyari, tested positive to the deadly disease. However, the Nigerian government claims Buhari is in good condition but critics disagree. The NCDC had also given the President a clean bill of health as he tested negative to the COVID-19 test carried out on him.

In response, the presidency and Buhari’s media aides released a photo of the President working in his office and added a tag which read:

The concocted audio message about President @MBuhari’s whereabouts should be totally disregarded. It is Fake News in its entirety. The President tonight at the State House, at work.”

However, after the photo was released, Nigerians have taken to Twitter to share their views and reactions. See some of the reactions below:
