A suspected bandit has been killed by men of the Nigerian Police in Katsina State who also recovered deadly weapons and some livestock.

Confirming the incident to newsmen on Thursday, Katsina Police Spokesman, Gambo Isah disclosed that about 140 livestock were recovered from the suspect in Dutsinma Local Government Area of the state.

SP Isah that bandits on Thursday morning fully armed launched an attack on Karo and Garangamawa villages in Dutsinma Local Government Area, rustled animals belonging to residents.

“The Divisional Police Officer, Dutsinma swiftly led a team of Operation Puff Adder and laid an ambush on the bandits,” Isah said.

The SP further revealed that the team engaged in an exchange of gunshots with the bandits and in the process killed one of them, recover 60 cows and 80 sheep while others fled.

“Search parties are still combing the area with a view of arresting the bandits who fled with gunshots wounds and also to recover their operational weapons,” Isah added.

Naija News recalls that former senator of the 8th National Assembly, Shehu Sani in a post on Facebook about two weeks ago had noted that the El-Rufai led administration should be equipped and ready to fight against attacks if it refuses to negotiate with bandits in Kaduna state.
