Luis Rubiales, the President of the Royal Spanish Football Federation, has ruled out the possibility of handling Barcelona the La Liga title if the coronavirus forces the season to end.

Rubiales noted that it would be unfair to present Barcelona with the trophy as few points stand between the La Liga champions and Real Madrid.

The Spanish La Liga fixtures are currently on suspension due to the outbreak of Coronavirus in Europe.

Barcelona is currently on top of the La Liga table with two points ahead of second-place Real Madrid.

Diario As quoted Rubiales saying, “We have been working with UEFA for several days on the phone and by videoconference.”

“We have put forward some proposals that have been satisfactorily approved.”

“We already know what the situations are for the European, local and Euro competitions.”

“The competitions in Spain have to be finished before June 30 and all teams have to play all their matches.”

“That’s what we discussed with the 55 member federations and with the Executive Committee. We have all voted favourably.”
