Nigerian Journalist, Agba Jalingo, who was on August 30, 2020, arrested and charged for treason by Governor Benedict Bengioushuye Ayade’s led administration in Cross River State, has narrated his ordeal while he was in prison.

This online news platform understands that Agba Jalingo is a publisher with a privately owned Nigerian based news website ‘CrossRiverWatch’.

It could be recalled that Jalingo was accused of public disturbance and treason over his articles and social media post which is directed to the Governor Benedict Ayade’s led administration.

Speaking at the interview with ‘Fire Works’, Jalingo said that he regretted not speaking up on time to challenge Ayade, adding that he should not have considered his relationship with the Cross River governor, who he addressed as a brother.

He said, “I need to clarify this, the federal government has no hand in this, it is the plot of the state governor who is my own brother,”

“I am looking at the possibility of an Efik man becoming the next governor of Cross River State, how can I at that time challenge such a person if things are not going well when I have not challenged my own brother when he was in power,” Jalingo quoted.

Agba Jalingo, however, noted that he will not stop challenging the governor in speaking for the truth.

Speaking about his experience as a journalist as and his experience in jail; “I have learnt a lot, and I must say that I was loved by my fellow journalists for what I stood for, I was indeed loved,” he said.

“Prison experience was far more than what it is pictured. In prison, there are people who normally can not come close to you on the street, but in prison, you are treated ordinarily.”

“I know very well that Ben Ayade’s administration is not yet done with me, I understand that,” Jalingo reiterated.
