Liverpool Will Return For EPL Title Chase Next Season - Klopp

The manager of Liverpool, Jurgen Klopp, has condemned the style of play employed by Atletico Madrid after the Reds were eliminated from the Champions League on Wednesday.

The English Premier League side had lost 1-0 at the Wanda Metropolitano and was banking on home advantage to qualify for the last eight.

However, the Champions League holder scored a goal in 90 minutes which took the clash to extra time.

Robert Firmino’s goal in the extra time was not enough as Marcos Llorente struck twice to give Atletico Madrid an advantage at Anfield.

Former Chelsea striker, Alvaro Morata, sealed the victory for Diego Simeone’s men after scoring in the 30 minutes of the extra time.

Klopp while speaking on his side’s defeat said, “I don’t understand with the quality they have the football they play.”

“They could play proper football but they stand deep and have counter-attacks.”

“We accept it of course but it doesn’t feel right tonight. I realise I am a really bad loser, especially when the boys put such an effort in against world-class players on the other side who defend with two rows of four,” Klopp told BT Sport.
