Bayelsa: PDP Youths Demand Alaibe’s Expulsion

Youths of the Peoples Democratic Party in Bayelsa State on Tuesday staged a protest demanding the expulsion of Mr Timi Alaibe from the party.

The aggrieved youths who stormed the national secretariat of the party in Abuja accused Alaibe of being a member of the All Progressives Congress.

The protesters, under the auspices of PDP National Youth Rebirth Forum, displayed placards in solidarity with the Bayelsa State Governor, Duoye Diri.

Recall that the governorship aspirant in the 2019 election had filed a petition before the court challenging the nomination of Diri as the candidate of the party in the November 16, 2019 governorship election in the state.

Alaibe in his suit had called on the court to void the Bayelsa state Governor’s nomination, calling for the court to declare him as the winner of the PDP primary election.

According to him, the primary election that produced Diri as PDP candidate breached the provisions of the party’s constitution.

However, the court on Tuesday struck out the suit before it and declared the governor of Bayelsa State as the rightful candidate of PDP.
