Sanwo-Olu Govt Says Three More Suspected Coronavirus Cases In Lagos

The Babajide Sanwo-Olu-led Lagos State Government has revealed that there are three more suspected cases of Coronavirus in Nigeria.

The Lagos State Commissioner of Health, Dr Akin Abayomi, stated this while briefing newsmen on Thursday.

The Commissioner of Health, however, refused to identify the patients.

According to Dr Abayomi, the patients are currently at the Infectious Disease Hospital in the Yaba, Lagos Mainland.

He said the patients came into the counrty from France, China and England respectively.

The Government official also revealed that the samples of the patients have been taken and the results are being expected.

“We now have 3 suspected cases under isolation in our containment facility in Yaba.

“One from France, one from England and one from China. Their samples have been taken and the results are being expected,” he said.

Naija News recalls that the Federal Ministry of Health had last Friday confirmed the first case of the Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) in Lagos, Nigeria’s commercial city.

The Minister of Health, Dr Osagie Ehanire, confirmed the case in a statement issued in the early hours of Friday, February 28, 2020, saying that the case involves an Italian citizen who works in Nigeria and just returned from Milan, Italy on the 25th of February 2020.

This online news platform understands that the statement said the Italian was confirmed to be positive by the Virology Laboratory of the Lagos University Teaching Hospital, part of the Laboratory Network of the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC).
