Buhari Praises Dangote Over N200m Donation To Tackle Coronavirus In Nigeria

President Muhammadu Buhari has praised Africa’s richest man, Aliko Dangote, for donating N200 million to help in the fight against the influx of Covid-19 into the country.

This, he made known through Femi Adesina, his spokesperson.

Recall Naija News earlier reported that the foundation of the richest man in Africa, Alhaji Aliko Dangote has promised to give out a whooping sum of N200million to support the current effort of the Nigerian government towards curbing the spread of Corona Virus or Covid-19 in the country.

The Chief Executive Officer of the organization, Zouera Youssoufou, who made this known in a statement, said the donation was part of the Foundation’s cardinal objective of partnering with governments at all levels against the dreaded disease in Nigeria and the rest of Africa.

Ms Youssoufou said the foundation had earmarked N124 million to support facilities that would assist prevent, assess and respond to health events at Points of Entry to ensure National Health Security. She said other areas the foundation is supporting include surveillance and epidemiology, where facilities worth N36 million will be provided by the foundation to support government’s effort.

Reacting, Buhari recalled that Dangote had in the past through his foundation, the Aliko Dangote Foundation, donated N1 billion to tackle Ebola Virus Disease (EVD) in Africa.

The president praised such public-spiritedness and encouraged other well-to-do individuals and groups to follow suit.

According to President Buhari, “Hand in hand, standing shoulder to shoulder, we can confront our challenges as a country. This is a path for us all to follow as people.”

President Buhari further warned that Nigerians should take necessary hygiene precautions, rather than panic about the Covid-19, after the discovery of the index case in the country last week.
