Senator Shehu Sani, the former lawmaker representing Kaduna Central in the upper chamber of the National Assembly has reacted to the gruesome murder of some villagers in Kaduna state.

Reacting via a post on his Twitter account on Monday, Sani condemned the action of the gunmen and called on the government to put better security measures in place for the people.

Recall Naija News earlier reported that about 30 villagers were killed by gunmen suspected to be bandits in Igabi and Giwa Local Government Areas of Kaduna State at the weekend.

The affected villages are Kerawa, Rago, Marina, Zariyawa, Hashimawa, Gidan Musa Saidu, and Unguwar Barau.

An indigene of Giwa local government who spoke on the condition of anonymity on Monday stated that some bandits attacked the villages and killed many villagers.

The source further stated that troops of the Nigerian Army and Air Force launched an attack against the bandits which led to the death of some of them.

Another source noted that the bandits launched a revenge attack on the villagers who they accused of providing information to security agencies which resulted in the death of their members in previous weeks.

Reacting to the incident, Sani who quoted a figure of 50 killed, tweeted on Monday, “The Killings of over 50 innocent people in Kerawa, Igabi LGA stands [condemned]. Thoughts, prayers, and condolences to the families of the victims.

“The people voted for a Government and not Gallows. The north must wake up, Buckle up and end this current of tragedies.”
