Players of the English Premier League side, Newcastle have been banned from shaking players of the opposing team over fears of coronavirus disease.

Club manager, Steve Bruce announced the decision is in line with health advice by the club doctor, Paul Catterson due to challenges posed by the outbreak of coronavirus.

Catterson noted that the warning is just a preventive measure to stop the illness from spreading.

The players have also been banned from the habit of shaking hands with one another in the morning which is actually a ‘club ritual.’

“There is a hand shaking ritual here, everyone shakes hands with each other when we see each other in the morning. We have stopped that on the back of the virus.

“Let’s hope it doesn’t get any worse. We are like everyone else, glued to the TV seeing what happens next. We are mindful of bugs sweeping through,” Bruce said.

Newcastle will take on Burnley on Saturday in an English Premier League clash.
