2023: Yahaya Bello's Ex Deputy, Simon Achuba, Yahaya Karaku, Other APC Stalwarts Defect To PDP In Kogi

The Former Deputy Governor of Kogi State Simon Achuba, has been vindicated by a High court in the north-central state.

Naija News recalls that Achuba was impeached in October 2019 by members of the Kogi State House of Assembly on three grounds: criminal indulgence, financial misappropriation, and non-performance.

However, the  State High Court in Lokoja has declared the removal of Achuba, by the State House of Assembly as illegal and a violation of the constitution and the subsequent nomination of Edward Onoja as the deputy governor did not follow due process.

The presiding judge, Justice John Olorunfemi while delivering the judgment earlier today also described the action of the Kogi State House of Assembly as a constitutional coup, hatched and executed in a democracy explaining further that the action is contrary to Section 188 subsection 8, a section that stopped the Assembly from further action having discovered that the former deputy governor was not found wanting by the panel.

Naija News also recalls that Achuba was  the running mate to the winner of  the 2015 Governorship election in 2015 late Chief Abubakar Audu
