The Minister of Aviation under the Goodluck Jonathan administration, Femi Fani-Kayode, has described the former spokesperson of the Peoples Democratic Party, Olisa Metuh, as a political prisoner.

The former minister stated that Metuh was allegedly persecuted for standing up against tyranny in Nigeria.

Naija News had earlier reported that the Abuja Federal High Court convicted Metuh for laundering the sum of N400m during the administration of former President, Goodluck Jonathan.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission had charged the former PDP spokesperson and his company, Destra Investment Ltd for Laundering the sum of #400m meant to fight against insurgency in the North East.

The commission noted that Metuh received the money from the Office of the National Security Adviser, under the leadership of Sambo Dasuki.

Justice Okon Abang on Tuesday found the former PDP National Secretary guilty of all the charges and sentenced him to 7 years in prison.

Fani-Kayode while reacting to the court ruling described Justice Okon Abang as a “biased and corrupt judge.”

The former minister who took to his Twitter account wrote: “As for my friend & brother Olisa Metuh he will weather this storm. He is only one of many political prisoners that have suffered persecution in Nigeria for standing up to the tyrant and that has been convicted by a biased judge and a corrupt court.”

“I have no doubt that, like Bode George, he will win on appeal. He will be vindicated. He will come out with flying colours. He will be fine and he will live long and prosper. Sadly yours will not be as happy an ending.”
