In respect to the El’Rufai’s suggestion and choice on the country’s leadership in 2023, Barr Uche Okwukwu, the Secretary-General of apex Igbo socio-political organization, Ohanaeze Ndigbo, hinted on Wednesday during a chat with newsmen that Nasir El-Rufai’s statement confirms a backing what Ohanaeze has been agitating for over the years.

Naija News reports earlier that Kaduna State Governor, El-Rufai backs South for 2023 presidency, noting that the Northern part of the country in enjoying it second tenure and should give way for another region.

El’Rufai in his statement insisted that power should rotate to the Southern part of the country at the expiration of President Muhammadu Buhari’s second term.

Okwukwu in his addition reiterates that the Southeast and South-South should be given maximum support to take on the presidential seat come next tenure.

“El-Rufai’s position supports the stance I as Secretary-General and Ohanaeze progressives wing have always advocated,” said Okwukwu.

“The progressive wing of Ohanaeze has been consistent that the North should be allowed to complete their eight years and that being done by 2023, power should shift to the South.

“And naturally, after eight years, power should shift to the Southeast and South-South that never did eight years.” He added.
