Nigerians have been alerted in a statement by the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) towards the patronage of roadside tea sellers, popularly referred to as Maishayi, noting that they now add hard drugs in the tea without the consumer knowing.

In a chat with the NAN on Monday, the Director-General of the agency, Prof. Mojisola Adeyeye, disclosed that its agency has been tipped-off that ‘Maishayi’ is now into adding hard drugs in the tea they sell to buyers.

Speaking further about the development, Mojisola noted that hard drugs such as Marijuana, tramadol, Vieteling, and others have been noticed to be some of the drugs used by the ‘Maishayi’s and that the intake of such could result to loss of lives.

She said; “In the US, lots of people are dying because of these medicines. How can such medicines mix with palm wine in the name of getting high in Nigeria?

“There are some medicines you cannot take if you have cardiovascular problems,’’ she added.

Mojisola, therefore, charged Nigerians to say no to the intake of such drugs as a means of seeking power boost as it could be dangerous to their well-being.

Meanwhile, in another news, Naija News reported that men of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) in Kaduna state halted a travelling truck loaded with Cannabis Sativa (Indian Hemp).

In the report which was confirmed by the Kaduna State Commander of the agency, Bala Musa Fagge, two persons were nabbed with loads of Cannabis while they were trying to smuggle it to some location in the Nothern part of the country.
