'Pray For Buhari To Avoid Division In Nigeria' - Yakubu Gowon Begs Nigerians

A former military head of state in Nigeria, Gen. Yakubu Gowon (Rtd) has sought divine intervention for Nigeria to overcome its security challenges.

The former military president who spoke on Sunday in his capacity as the National Chairman of ‘Nigeria Prays’ said the many cases of insecurity in the country is a huge cause of concern for all well-meaning Nigerians.

Gen. Gowon while speaking at the one-day prayer rally held in Bauchi, said the prayer rally was to seek God’s intervention on issues of Boko Haram attack, terrorism, insurgencies and other forms of insecurity plaguing the North-East zone and Nigeria in general.

“Lord, on behalf of Nigerians, we bring confession of the needless bloodshed, killings and attacks by the Boko-Haram insurgencies, banditry and the spate of kidnappings and all kinds of evil in various parts of Nigeria.

“We beg for your forgiveness, mercy and cleansing of our country faced with numerous challenges.

“All Christian faithful and other religions in the country should please pray to God to help with the solutions of Nigeria’s problems.

“We pray that the land of Bauchi and the entire North East zone shall receive God’s divine visitation and deliverance from insurgency.

“May this war of insecurity end in Borno, Adamawa, Taraba, Gombe, Yobe, Bauchi and indeed in the whole country,” Gowon prayed.

Meanwhile, President Muhammadu Buhari has said the Nigeria Military will aggressively tackle Boko Haram insurgents until they are completely eliminated.

Naija News reports that the President said this in his reaction to the Boko Haram attack on Friday on Garkida, a town in Gombi, a local government area in North of Adamawa State.
