List Of States Won By APC, PDP After Supreme Court Judgement On Friday

The Supreme Court panel to hear the application by members of the APC in Zamfara State challenging the apex court’s judgement has been reconstituted by the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Tanko Muhammad.

The panel members are the CJN Muhammad, Justices Olukayode Ariwoola, Adamu Galinje, Inyang Okoro, and Uwani Abba-Aji.

Earlier, the counsel to the APC, Robert Clarke (SAN), had informed the court that they are seeking to review the consequential orders made by the court over the conduct of the primary in Zamfara State, which resulted in their votes being voided.

It will be recalled that a five-member panel of justices presided by the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Tanko Muhammad, had ruled unanimously that the APC failed to conduct primaries in accordance with the party rules in Zamfara State.

In the lead judgement by Justice Paul Adamu Galinji, the apex court held that all votes cast for the APC were “wasted votes” and declared that the political party with the second-highest votes in the elections and the required spread, be declared winner.

The apex court judgement was what then paved the way for the emergence of the PDP as winners of the Zamfara governorship election and other positions.

After Tuesday’s sitting, the Supreme Court has adjourned till March 2 the hearing of the All Progressives Congress’ application seeking the review of the May 24, 2019 judgment which nullified the victory of all the party’s candidates at the 2019 general elections held in Zamfara State.
