Buhari Sends Delegation To Katsina Over Killings Of 31 By Bandits

Following the killing of about 31 people in Katsina State by unknown gunmen suspected to be bandits on Friday, the Federal Government under the leadership of President Muhammadu Buhari has appointed representatives to visit the state and sympathise with its government and the families of victims.

According to the report which was disclosed by Garba Shehu, spokesman to the President, the team of the representatives on the sympathy visit was led by Chief of Staff, Mr Abba Kyari.

It was reported that the delegations were welcomed by the Katsina State Governor, Aminu Masari, alongside Emir of Katsina, Abdulmuminu Usman.

According to the report which was disclosed by Garba Shehu, spokesman to the President, the team of the representatives on the sympathy visit was led by Chief of Staff, Mr Abba Kyari.

Meanwhile, a report by The Punch stated that the Katsina State Police have arrested a man in connection with Friday’s attacks which saw about 31 people dead.

Speaking at the condolence visit, Abba Kyari announced that “President commiserated with families of the 31 victims of the attack, praying that Almighty God will comfort all of them and grant the departed rest.”

“Buhari assured the state government and Emirate Council that his administration would do whatever it takes to rid the country of bandits, terrorists and criminals,” he said.

Reacting to the attack, Governor Masari regretted recent attacks by bandits in the state noted that the only solution to banditry in the state is to make provision for Education.

He pointed with confidence that education will continue to be a priority of his administration.

The governor appreciated the President for sending a strong delegation to condole with the state.

He added saying, “We must go all out and spare no effort in tackling them. They are trying to destroy the country.”
