15-Year-Old Nikita Pearl Of Queen Of Katwe Dies At 15

Reports reaching Naija News at the time affirms that Nikita Pearl Waliga who was featured in popular Ugandan film, Queen of Katwe has died.

The death of the young star was disclosed by a Ugandan media, noting that she died of brain tumour.

Naija News the 15-year-old was one of the young actress featured in a Disney film in 2016, which has the face of Lupita Nyongo, Ugandan star in popular movie ‘Black Panther’.

Nikita was reportedly diagnosed in 2016 with a brain tumour but was taken to India for treatment. However, the tumour reportedly resurfaced after a few years and led to her death.

If you have watched the 2016 Disney film ‘Queen of Katwe’, Nikita had played the role of Gloria and a first teacher of the Chess game to Phiona who happens to be the major cast in the Ugandan true-life story film.

Meanwhile, in another news, Naija News reported that hundreds of thousands of faulty condoms on sale in Uganda have been recalled by the Global health charity Marie Stopes.

The recall followed a warning from Uganda’s National Drug Authority that the Life Guard brand condoms had failed to manufacture “quality tests” as they contained holes and may burst while in use.
