President Muhammadu Buhari has reportedly suspended Modibbo Kawu, the Director-General of the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC). It was gathered that Modibbo was suspended following an investigation conducted on him by the Independent Corrupt Practices and other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), bordering on allegations of corruption.

The judgement of the Supreme Court that sacked the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress, David Lyon, on Thursday has risen tension in the state as aggrieved Bayelsans and APC supporters embarked on massive protest. Angry youths in the state took to the streets of Yenagoa to protest against the court verdict. The aggrieved Bayelsans set the secretariat of the Peoples Democratic Party on fire.

It could be recalled that Agba Jalingo who is the publisher with CrossRiverWatch was arrested on August 22, 2019, over a report alleging that the Governor of Cross River, Ben Ayade, diverted N500 million belonging to the state.

The European football governing body, UEFA, has banned Manchester City from all European competitions for the next two seasons. UEFA found the English Premier League champions guilty of committing “serious breaches” of UEFA’s club licensing and Financial Fair Play (FFP) regulations.
