Bayelsa: Diri Speaks As INEC Issues Certificate Of Return

The Peoples Democratic Party governorship candidate in Bayelsa State, Senator Douye Diri, has spoken after the Independent National Electoral Commission presented him the Certificate of Return.

The electoral body on Friday presented Diri and his Deputy, Senator Lawrence Ewhrudjiakpo with their Certificates of Return at the INEC conference room by May Agbamu-Uche Mbu, INEC Commissioner in charge of Legal Affairs.

This happened a few minutes after the INEC Chairman, Prof Mahmood Yakubu, declared Diri as the winner of the Bayelsa State governorship election.

Recall that the Supreme Court had sacked the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress, David Lyon and his deputy.

Diri while reacting to the presentation of the certificate said: “I will never forget the judiciary. It is the last hope of the common man. With what happened, God has healed our State, Bayelsa. Within this time, God has taken us through a journey of reconciliation and forgiveness”.
