Federal Government claims that it has paid the N200,000 fine accrued to Omoyele Sowore, Sahara reporters publisher and convener of the #RevolutionNow.

It could be recalled that the Federal High Court in Abuja has on Tuesday resume sitting on two counts charge newly filed against Sowore and his co-defendant, Olawale Bakare.

During the Federal High Court sitting on Thursday, the prosecution in the trial of the former presidential candidate said that the Federal Government of Nigeria has paid the N200, 000 costs awarded against it the previous day by the court on grounds of delay.

The lead prosecution, Aminu Alilu, said that the payment was made to the Omoyele Sowore on Wednesday.

Naija News understands that Alilu also applied that the two newly count against the defendant on February 10, 2020, be substituted with the old charges filed on September 20, 2019.

Also confirming the payment report, defence lawyer, Abdul Mahmud, noted that the N200, 000 costs were paid to the defence through the bank account of a senior member of the team, Mr Olayinka Olumide-Fusika, SAN, on Wednesday.

In another news, Naija News reported that The National Examination Council has revealed that it is being owed for examinations conducted in 19 States.

Naija News learnt that the House of Representatives Committee on Finance was reliably informed by The Examinations Council’s Director of Finance and Administration, Dr Jacob Ekele of how the Zamfara States and eighteen other states refused to pay up for the examination fees of their students.
