1. Boko Haram Attacks Borno State, Few Minutes After President Buhari’s Departure

Boko Haram terrorists on Wednesday launched another daring attack on Jiddari Polo, a community in Maiduguri, the Borno State capital.

Naija News understands the attack occurred shortly after President Muhammadu Buhari departed Borno State where he went to pay a condolence visit following the deadly attack on Sunday which left at least 30 people dead and several cars, houses and other property destroyed.

2. Assault An Amotekun Officer And Pay N250,000 Fine Or A Month In Prison

A part of the law included in the bill of the embattled South-West Security outfit, nicknamed ‘Operation Amotekun’, has been leaked out on Wednesday.

Naija News recalls that Governor Kayode Fayemi of Ekiti State has disclosed on Monday that law giving legal backing to the establishment of Amotekun will be made public on Friday, February 4.

3. Oshiomhole Threatens Legal Action Against Zamfara State Government

The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Comrade Adams Oshiomhole has threatened to take legal action against those intimidating and harassing the party’s members in Zamfara State.

Naija News Understands that Oshiomhole gave the warning in Abuja at the stakeholders meeting with Zamfara APC members, who came to complain against the actions of the governor of the state, Alhaji Bello Matawalle.

4. Court Awards N200,000 Damages Against FG For Sowore

The Convener of #RevolutionNow protest, Omoyele Sowore has been awarded N200,000 damages by the Federal High Court sitting in Abuja

Naija News Understands that Justice Ijeoma Ojukwu of the Federal High Court in Abuja has ordered the Nigerian Government should pay N200,000 each to both defendants.

The Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant-General Tukur Buratai, has said President Muhammadu Buhari sacking his service chiefs would not end Boko Haram.

Naija News reports that the Senate, House of Representatives and Nigerians had called on Buhari to replace his service chiefs as they have not done enough to curb insecurity in the country.

6. Biafra: Nnamdi Kanu To Submit Self For Arrest On Parents’ Burial Day, See Why

The leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, has expressed readiness to submit himself for arrest in Nigeria if any member of his group is killed on the day of his parents’ burial.

This online news platform had reported earlier that the parents of the IPOB leader, late HRH Eze Israel Okwu Kanu and his wife late Ugoeze Sally Nmeme Okwu-Kanu will be buried on Valentine’s day, Friday, February 14, 2020.

7. Boko Haram: President Buhari Visits Maiduguri, Borno State

Reports reaching Naija News at this time confirms that President Muhammadu Buhari has arrived Maiduguri, Borno State, to sympathize with the family of those that were recently killed in an attack in the state.

This comes some days after Naija News reported that Boko Haram terrorists launched an attack on travelling passengers in Auno, a town 20 kilometres from Maiduguri, resulting to the death of at least 30 persons while no less than 18 vehicles were also completely burnt.

8. President Buhari Booed By Maiduguri Residents

Some residents of Maiduguri, the Borno State capital on Wednesday, booed President Muhammadu Buhari and his entourage during their visit to the state.

Recall Naija News had reported that the President paid a “sympathy visit” to residents of Borno. As he moved through town, the people shouted “Ba ma so, ba ma yi” in Hausa language.

9. Highlife Legend, Dr Victor Olaiya Is Dead

The Nigerian entertainment and music industry has lost another legend as popular highlife trumpeter, Dr Victor Olaiya died on Wednesday.

This was confirmed in a statement by the managing director of the Evergreen Music Company, Bimbo Esho to which Olaiya was signed.

10. NFF Gives Yobo Fresh Super Eagles Appointment

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has appointed former Everton defender, Joseph Yobo, as the new Super Eagles’ Assistant Coach.

Naija News reports that Yobo will be taking over from Imama Amapakobo who assumed the position after the sacking of Salisu Yusuf.
