Sexual Harassment: OAU Dismisses Another Lecturer Involved in Sex-For-Mark Scandal

The Obafemi Awolowo University management has announced the dismissal of one of its lecturers Monday Omo-Etan for sexually harassing a student.

Naija News Understands that Omo-Etan working at the university’s Centre for Distance Learning located at Moro in Ife North Local Government Council of the state had earlier been suspended by the university before handling him to the police for interrogation.

The tutor was accused of molesting a 19 – year – old female student at the center.

The varsity’s Public Relations Officer, Abiodun Olanrewaju, in a statement said that the action was in line with the university’s determination to eradicate all forms of sexual harassment against female students of the university.

Less than three weeks after the Management of Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile Ife, expressed its zero-tolerance against sexual harassment by investigating and suspending a lecturer of the Department of International Relations, Mr Olabisi Olaleye, the university has suspended a worker of the OAU Centre for Distance Learning for sexually molesting a 19-year-old female student.

“The university has also handed over the tutor, Mr Monday Omo-Etan, to the police.

“The Management has reinstated her commitment to the total eradication of any form of sexual harassment, molestation or other social vices.”

Naija News recalls that  two years ago Professor Richard Akindele was dismissed for the same sexual harassment offense after he was found guilty of demanding for sex from Monica Osagie, a postgraduate student of OAU,
