Kogi State Commissioner of Police, CP Ede Ayuba Ekpeji, has confirmed that the command nabbed a young man who has been showing off with military camo in his community.

CP Ayuba disclosed that the Kogi State Police Command made an arrest of Monday Shaibu who has been reportedly parading himself as an army to successfully rob motorists and travellers of their belongings in Kogi East axis.

Shaibu was paraded alongside other suspects who were nabbed with offences ranging from armed robbery to kidnapping, culpable homicide and motorcycle/car theft, Naija News understands.

Speaking about the suspects, the Commissioner of Police, said, “Operatives attached to the Special Anti-Robbery Squad, while on routine patrol, intercepted a Toyota Highlander 2009 model with Reg. No. Lagos SMK 963 FZ with three occupants namely Ahmed Abah, Yauza Adamu, and Idris Sani. During interrogation, the suspects confessed to have stolen the vehicle from Lagos.”

Also, some three other persons, Mohammed Yahaya, Idris Bello, and Nafiu Bello were arrested for an alleged robbery and car theft.

CP Ayuba noted that “on the 18th of December, 2019, in the evening, the three suspects, who have been terrorizing Lokoja and its environ, snatched at gunpoint, one unregistered Toyota Sienna and other valuables along Old Stadium Road, Lokoja”.

“one of the suspects, Idris Bello, when arrested led detectives to his house where one locally-made revolver and other live ammunition were recovered,” He said.

Items recovered from the operation includes three motorcycles, one Toyota Corolla, Toyota ‘big for nothing’, one Sienna, one Toyota highlander, three pistols, cartridges, one decoder and fives wristwatches.

Names of other suspects paraded include Mustapha James Onuh, Abubakar Achaji Ali, Ibrahim Mallam Barto, Bello Suleiman, Aliyu Ibrahim, and Yakubu Dunca.

Meanwhile, about a month ago, Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello, has noted that the state belongs to everyone and not to groups or tribe.

Bello stated this during a meeting with the Permanent Secretaries and Heads of Ministries, Departments and Agencies in the State on Wednesday, January 8, at the Government House, Lokoja.
