A fuel tanker with 11,000 litres of diesel has caught fire on Thursday at the Abule Osun Bus Station, inward Ojo barracks area of Lagos State.

As at the time of filing this report, firemen were still battling to put out the fire which occurred adjacent to China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation (CCECC) construction yard along Badagry expressway.

Speaking on the cause of the accident, Director-General of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) Olufemi Osanyintolu said preliminary investigations show that the accident occurred after the rear spring of the tanker broke while the vehicle was travelling at high speed.

So far, no casualties have been recorded as a result of the accident while law enforcement officials have taken over the area to ease the traffic that has built up around the area as a result of the incident.

Meanwhile, Naija News reports residents of Lagos state are still trying to adapt to the restriction of commercial motorcycles (Okada) and Tricycles (Keke) which came into effect on February 1.

The restriction affects 15 Local Government Areas and Local Council Development Areas, 11 major highways and 41 bridges.
