One Dead, Others Escapes As Police Foils Robbery Attack In Edo State

A statement by Edo State Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, DSP Chidi Nwanbuzor, reveals that the state police command thwarted a robbery by some armed gang on Tuesday.

Chidi while interacting with news correspondent at the state police headquarters said that the command on Tuesday got hold of a robber who sustained gun injuries after a gun battle which erupts between the police and the robbers, but added that others narrowly escaped.

Naija News understands that one person was shot dead during the gun duel which happened at about 4:30 pm on Tuesday evening.

He further reveals that the police stormed the scene of the robbery following a distress call that robbers were operating along Benin-Lagos Expressway between Fulani Junction and Bob Izua Market.

“The hoodlums on sighting the Police engaged them in a gun duel and with the superior firepower of the police, one of the armed robbers was gunned down, one arrested with gun injuries while another escaped with bullet wounds,” said Chidi.

In another news, Naija News reported that Niger State police command has arrested four suspects with a series of armed robbery attacks in the Kantoma area in the Suleja Local Government Area of niger state.

Those arrested include Ahmed Usman, 29; Chinedu Eche, 28; Chibuzor Ogochukwu, 29; and Okechukwu Oke, 30, all from the Bakin-Iku area of Suleja.
