Just a few weeks after Naija News reported the abduction of Alhaji Hassan Mohammed, the District Head of Gayari town in Gummi Local Government Area of Zamfara State by some unknown gunmen, the traditional leader has now been released, but the abductors held back his son.

Confirming his release, a family source said that Mohammed has been freed, but added that the kidnappers had refused to release his son, Yasir Mohammed, despite paying a ransom of N5m.

Meanwhile, Naija News learned that the kidnappers had earlier demands for the sum of N40m from the family before they can release the two. Fortunately, they finally release the father after receiving N5m.

Gayari on behalf of the family told newsmen that, “When the N5m was handed over to them, they only released the District Head, Hassan Mohammed, and refused to release his son, Yasir Hassan, saying that we must give them two motorcycles this time.”

“The family members were making efforts to procure two motorcycles to give to the kidnappers so that Yasir could also regain his freedom, He said.

However, the state Police Command are said to be making efforts to rescue Yasir and also arrest the abductors.

Speaking further on the abduction, the state Assembly revealed that it was going to enact a law to prosecute kidnappers in the state.
