English Premier League (EPL) side, Arsenal have reportedly reached an agreement with Shakhtar Donetsk’s defender, Mykola Matviyenko.

Naija News reports that Arsenal are keen to sign a new centre-back before Friday’s transfer deadline after losing Calum Chambers and Shkodran Mustafi to injuries.

Recall that Brazilian defender, David Luiz, also picked a straight red card in the Gunners 2-2 draw against Chelsea.

Arsenal were on the verge of signing Flamingo defender, Pablo Mari, but a late hitch looks to have stalled the deal.

Mari had arrived in London on Saturday for his medical with the Gunners technical director, Edu Gaspar, after a deal to sign him on loan with a view to a £7.5m transfer was agreed.

Naija News understands that Arsenal and Flamingo are still in discussion over signing the Spanish defender but the Gunners are currently looking at other options.

According to TEAM1, Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal have now reached an agreement with Shakhtar to sign Matviyenko this month.

The Ukrainian newspaper reports that the North London club are now deciding whether to push ahead with a move for Matviyenko or to bring in Mari instead.

Naija News reports that the Gunners are set for a warm-weather training camp in Dubai from February 7th to 11th during the Premier League break.
