1. Finally, FG, Southwest Governors Reach Agreement On Amotekun

The Federal Government led by President Muhammadu Buhari has finally reached an agreement with South West Governors on Operation Amotekun, a Western Nigeria Security Network.

Naija News had reported earlier that the Federal Government represented by Yemi Osinbajo, Nigeria’s Vice President, met with the six governors from the South West.

2. Court Stops INEC, Senate From Sacking Ifeanyi Ubah

The Independent National Electoral Commission, Clerk of the National Assembly and Clerk of the Senate has been stopped by a Federal High Court in Abuja on Thursday from effecting the judgement that sacked Ifeanyi Ubah from the Senate.

Recall that the court had sacked Senator Ifeanyi Ubah of the Young Progressives Party on January 17.

3. Buhari Led Government Is Guilty Of Nepotism – Ohanaeze President General

The President-General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Chief John Nwodo has called for a national conference of ethnic nationalities to address the challenges bedevilling the nation.

Naija News Understands that Nwodo, who made this known in Enugu revealed that the country was gradually moving to the point of becoming a failed state due to failing political culture and lack of true constitutionalism.

4. Malami Speaks On Transparency International Report On Nigeria

The Federal Government has reacted to Nigeria dropping two steps in the Transparency International Corruption Perceptions Index released on Thursday

The ranking which was released on Thursday saw Nigeria ranked 146 out of 180 countries studied.

5. Dasuki Makes First Appearance In Court After Release, Continues Trial

Sambo Dasuki, the immediate-past former National Security Adviser has today, made his first court appearance following his release from four-year-long detention in December, last year.

Recall that Dasuki had been in detention for a long period of time, despite that he had been granted bail severally by various courts.

6. FG Arraigns Adoke On 42 Counts Of Fraud, Money Laundering

The Federal Government of Nigeria has on Thursday, arraigned ex-Attorney General of the Federation, Mohammed Adoke on 42 counts of fraud and money laundering.

This media platform understands that the hearing of Adoke’s case came up at Gwagwalada Division of the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.

7. Shiites Can’t Be Reason For US Visa Ban On Nigeria – IMN

The Islamic Movement in Nigeria, also known as Shi’ites has reacted to the claims that it’s one of the reasons why the United States restrict Nigerians from getting Visa into the US. The Islamic body said that it cannot be the yardstick for such.

According to the statement by the President, Media Forum for Islamic Movement in Nigeria, Ibrahim Musa, he said that there was no basis for the United States to extend visa restrictions to Nigeria simply because of their activities in the country.

8. Afenifere Knocks Tinubu Over His Statement On Amotekun

Afenifere, the Yoruba socio-cultural and political organization has lashed out at the National Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Tinubu over his stance on Operation Amotekun.

Femi Okurounmu, a leader of the Afenifere group however in his reaction, described Tinubu’s comment on Amotekun as offensive.

9. Transparency International’s Corruption Index Ranks Nigeria Low (Full List)

Nigeria on Thursday dropped two places in the latest ranking on the annual corruption perception index published by Transparency International.

The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) is presently holding its first Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) meeting for the year 2020.
